We provide comprehensive social care assessments to contribute to Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans for children and young people. This focuses on:
- Section D: Determining the child or young person's social care needs.
- Section H: Recommending the support and types of service provision that are required to meet the needs detailed in Section D.
We also write our reports in a manner which contributes to:
- Section A: Exploring a child or young person's views, wishes and interests.
- Section E: Detailing what the child or young person is striving for, and describing their intended outcomes.
- Section F: Providing an expert opinion to explain how and why any social care provision may appear to have an education and training component so that the Tribunal can be assisted in their decision-making, and determination of what should be included in this section.
Our assessments are conducted in accordance with the Children Act 1989 and Section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970, because these Acts determine if a child is 'in need' and the latter mandates the provision of services which is necessary to meet the child and young persons needs. Additionally, Imara considers the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2014, ensuring our assessments are legally sound and meet the highest quality standards.
We understand that appealing an EHC plan and going to tribunal can be stressful, so our process of assessment aims to be sensitive, friendly and efficient so that our involvement doesn't feel overwhelming.
