Finding Legal Advice and Help

The Law Society

If you need to find a Solicitor but don't know where to look, you can use the Law Societies website (please click on the link above). This website hosts a directory of solicitors in England and Wales and is a good starting point. You can search for solicitors based on their area of expertise, which is crucial because legal issues can be complex and you want a solicitor with the right knowledge. Many solicitor profiles include information about their experience, qualifications and specific accreditation.

Civil Legal Advice

If you require Legal Aid, you can see whether you may be eligible through the 'The Civil Legal Advice' (CLA) website (please click on the link above). Legal aid helps people with limited financial resources cover the costs of legal advice and representation and the CLA website provides information about eligibility for legal aid. Eligibility usually depends on your income, savings, and the type of legal problem you have, and depends on the area of law required.

We Are Advocate

If you are struggling to find legal aid, some solicitors may be willing to act pro bono which means providing legal services for free. 'We Are Advocate' is a charity that connects people who need legal help with barristers who are willing to work pro bono but services are often in high demand, so there's no guarantee of getting help (please click on the link above).

Justice

Finally you may find a site called 'Justice' helpful. This organisation does not provide direct legal advice but they can signpost you to other organisations or resources that may be helpful (please click on the link above).
